Rich Craft Studio is Rich and Dima, a husband-and-wife team in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Together we design, build and bring each concept to life, from the first conversation and sketch through joinery, finishing and placement in your home.
Because the studio is just the two of us, you work with the same people who design and make your piece from start to finish.
We listen, measure and draw until the piece fits the room and the way you live.
We select the lumber and build every joint, surface and finish by hand.
We deliver, place and light the finished piece in your home.
Furniture should be designed for the room it lives in, built from wood you can see and touch, and made to be handed down.
No catalog sizes. Each piece starts with your room, your measurements and how you live.
White oak, walnut and maple chosen board by board, with the grain laid out to flow across the whole piece.
Designed, built and finished by the two of us, from first sketch to delivery.
Designed and built a few miles from the Pacific.
All lumber is kiln-dried and acclimated in the studio before cutting. Janka hardness measures how well a species resists dents from daily use.
Tough, stable and water-resistant. Rift-sawn for straight lines; quartersawn for shimmering ray fleck.
Deep chocolate brown that warms toward gold. Pairs naturally with brass and pale inlay.
Pale, bright and very hard. The classic choice for end-grain boards and inlaid stripes.
Fine, even grain that deepens from pale salmon to red-brown with light.
Bold, open grain with natural flex. Well suited to benches and seating.
Most pieces take 8 to 14 weeks from deposit to delivery, depending on size and the current build schedule.
Designed / 3D model
Built / The Solana Night StandEvery commission starts as a 3D model built to your exact dimensions. You can study proportions, slat spacing, legs and details like cable openings, and see how the piece will sit in your room.
We revise the model with you until it's right, then price it with a fixed quote. Only once you approve the design does the build begin, and the finished piece follows the model you signed off on.
We talk through the room, how the piece will be used, and your budget.

A good piece of furniture should outlast the person who ordered it.
Our workshop sits in Rancho Santa Fe, in the hills of North County San Diego. Every piece is designed, built and finished here by the two of us.
The work pairs clean, modern lines with honest materials: white oak and walnut chosen board by board, slatted fronts and inlaid stripes that catch the light, brass where the hand meets the wood, and lighting built in from the start.

Every commission ends up in someone's home. Here is what a few of those clients say about the process and the finished piece.

Yes. Everything in the collection is made to order, so dimensions, proportions, species and hardware can all be adjusted to suit your room.
Most pieces take 8 to 14 weeks from deposit to delivery. Design takes one to two weeks, and the build itself six to ten, depending on size and the current schedule.
Each piece is quoted individually based on size, wood and detail. After the design stage you receive a fixed quote, so the price you approve is the price you pay.
Once you approve the design and fixed quote, a 50% non-refundable deposit confirms the order. It reserves your place in the build schedule and pays for the lumber, which is bought and cut for your piece alone. Placeholder [When the remaining 50% is due, for example on completion before delivery.]
Delivery, placement and leveling are included throughout San Diego County. For projects farther afield, ask about delivery when you inquire.
Every piece is delivered with care notes for its specific finish, including how to clean it and when to refresh it.
Tell us about the room and what you have in mind. We reply within two business days to arrange a consultation. Consultations are complimentary; work begins with a 50% non-refundable deposit once the design is approved.
